Crown of Thorns

I was doing a little cleaning and organizing and came across some berry picks and I immediately knew what I wanted to create, and well take a look at my crown of thorns.

Materials:
1.) Berry Garland
2.) Toothpicks
3.)Hot Glue
4.) Brown Chalk paint or Brown spray paint

This is a smaller version crown of thorns as these are small garlands which work perfect for me.

** The original on the picture with the painting was done using the berry picks.

You will start by slightly pulling it apart to make it a bit wider as you. Can see below I added some small green wire around the wreath in certain spots to allow for me to pull and keep the round form.

Once you have the small wreath ready then cut tooth picks in half as these will be used for the thorn illusion.

Now start by gluing the toothpicks in random places and start giving it a crown of thorns look.

As you can see I randomly glued them in different directions.

This definitely looks like a crown of thorns in the making.

Now start by painting your crown of thorns, make sure you cover any small spaces .

I am not patient so I sprayed mine using a Brown Chestnut color. But if you use chalk paint then after it’s dry then you can add a mod podge sealer to give it shine.

This was a very simple project but if used correctly then it will be a stunning piece.
