If you ever wanted a Tiffany wall sconce here is a very inexpensive way to create your own. Take a look how easy this is.
These are the main materials you will need
1.) Plastic bowl from Dollar Tree
2.) Mini shot glasses from Dollar Tree
To get started you will use the wood burning tool to cut the plastic bowl and mini shot glass in half, be careful the wood burning tool gets very hot.
Once you have both pieces cut in half then you will glue the small cut underneath the bowl aligning both cut pieces.
Once these tow pieces are glued together then you will paint the bottom side of the bowl and mini shot glass using black chalk paint.
Using a black sharpie a simply drew a representation of the American flag-you can create any design you want. I drew this outside of the of the plastic bowl.
Once you have drawn your design then you will need cardboard to trace the back side of the sconce. You will need this piece later on put it aside for now.
Now to create the stain glass effect you will need acrylic paint and clear glue.
The trick to this is to use more glue than paint, see below how I only used two drops of each color.
Mix each color very well and start painting your design, I would advise to do one color at a time as you will dry each section using a heat gun Repeat the step for each color this will allow you to not have any paint dripping.
Do not worry if you have paint over the black marks as you will cover the imperfections later on. Make sure use that your paint s dried .
Now grab the black cardboard piece and paint it black to match the bottom side of the sconce. As you can see i cut the bottom piece i chose not to use it.
Once you have the back side in place then it’s time to apply the mod podge on the inside part of the sconce. Be very generous when applying mod podge and pour diamond dust inside and make sure the inside is covered .
These metal pieces can be found in any hardware store or if you have any old frames you can repurpose them. Glue them to the back of your sconce.
The last step is to go over all the black outlining of your design as this will bring out the colors. Im using 3D Puffy paint and you can find this in the fabric section in the Walmart section.
Take a peek how the puffy paint makes a difference. Now simply add any type of lighting you desire, I’m using fairy lights from amazon and you are done.
Watch how the diamond dust on the inside makes this design look like stained glass.
