Christmas Tree Cookie Platter

Who says cookie tray platters have to be used just for cookies? I took a Walmart cookie platter and turned it into a piece of art, take a look at the process.

Main Materials:
Cookie Platter (Link down below)
Green Chalk Paint

I started by securing the top of the cookie platter since it has latches on the side. I painted the entire tree using the Green chalk paint.

Once the chalk paint has dried off then I used two different shades of Green and painted branches all over the front and sides of the tree tray.

Make sure to let dry and go over it with a second coat if needed.

Now once all the paint has dried off I simply used the circles on top of the tray and using a wood burning tool I made holes big enough to insert small ball ornaments.

Make sure to remove the gold part of the ornament and apply a small dab of blue to secure once the ornament is inserted in the holes.

Using yellow acrylic paint and the opposite tip of a a paintbrush I created a garland on the tree, you will use the opposite tip of the brush to tap tap away.

I also used different colors to paint ornaments on the tree, you can use different colors. You will repeat the garland effect and ornaments on the side of the tree.

To finish the bottom part of the tree I simply used a shade of brown to paint a tree trunk.

The lighting part you will need two fairy light strands either clear lights or colored lights. I used one strand to glue around the tree form using hot glue.

I started from the bottom up leaving room for the battery pack to be glued on the backside.

The second strand is simply wired it using the ornaments on top of the tree by wrapping around and evenly space them out.

Start from the bottom up leaving the battery pack off to the side so it may be glued ton the backside.

To finish it up I added some paper poinsettias on the bottom part. You can use artificial flowers.

Finally spray the entire piece using acrylic spray sealer.

The last piece I used was a small star ornament for a topper and you are done .

I hope you give this a try and share with your friends and family, don’t forget to catch me live on Facebook.
