Christmas Ball Ornament

Whoa! You will only see this here at Manny’s Paper Fun, I got created with some dollar tree items and recreated an expensive Christmas Ball ornament for under 15$

Materials:
1.) Two round wire wreath forms (13’)
2.)Big plastic bowl
3.)Christmas small ornaments
4.)Hot Glue,Scissors, Exacto Knife, pipe cleaners/zip ties
5.)Fairy lights
6.)Metallic Gold-Silver spray paint
7.) Cardoboard or small box

This is the orgianal picture for my first project, a few steps and material are different.

Let’s get started! Grab the plastic bowl and face it down, grab one of the wire wreath forms and place it over the bowl, make sure that it is centered.

For this step if you have E600 glue it would be perfect, add a little of the E600 all around the bowl to secure the bowl and wire wreath. IF you have added E6000 then go over the hot glue and repeat the step the hot glue will keep them in place as the E6000 dries.

Next turn over the bowl facing up and with a marker make to dots in between the wire you will be able to see it through the bow. These holes will be used to thread the pipe cleaners.

See carefully as I have marked the bowl in North,South, East and West form.

Using the wood burning tool poke through the plastic bowl.

You can see that the holes are done.

Now this step will be different for everyone, you can use any colors that you want, I’m using gold and silver spray paint to match my silver ornaments.

Spray the front and back side of half of the wreath ornament, I sprayed the inside silver and gold around the rim of the bowl.

Both wreath forms will also be sprayed, I combined gold and silver .

Once the paint is dried then grab the pipe cleaners or zip ties and from the outside of the bowl thread the pipe cleaner. Both ends will come through the inside of the bowl.

You will repeat the same step to the 4 sets of holes.

You will grab both ends of the pipe cleaners, pull tightly and twist, snip off the leftover wire.

If you have a small box then you’re in luck because you don’t have to create the top of the ornament. Grape the zip tie and get ready.

If you have the box then mark two X’s to make your cut using the exacto knife.

Insert both ends of the zip tie and apply some glue underneath the lid to secure ties.

Add hot glue and close the lid to secure, spray paint it to match the rest of the wreath color scheme.

***** If you don’t have a small box then follow the steps below to create the front side of the ornament.

These two pieces of cardboard are simple two box lids, make sure you measure as shown in the pictures.
Create the front side of the ornament hanger box.
Do not throw away the left over cardboard.
The horizontal line I drew is where you will be cutting after the next step.
Create a scalloped edge and carefully cut it out.
The scalloped piece you cut out will be glued on the front side of the box you created.
Poke two holes using the exacto knife and insert the zip tie and apply glue under both ends to secure the “hanger”

Spray paint your ornament hanger gold or silver to match the wreath forms.

You can use any color balls depending on your design.

Start placing the balls around the wreath form.

**Tip place the top wreath form and light tight a zip tie to keep them in place and it will allow you to place the balls.

This step is a bit tricky as you will have some balls falling off, but as you can see below I arranged them nicely. Be patient I struggled too, now you can start by tightening the pipe cleaners two at a time to start securing the wreath. You have to pull really tight and twist to secure and repeat.

Snip off the leftover pipe cleaners and keep them 🙂

Now you can choose any part of the wreath to glue the hanger, I used E6000 first then hot glue, I had to make two cuts on the bottom of my box to glue over the wreath from.

You Don’t have to do that cutting step you can apply glue to the bottom of the box and press down to secure it, the glue will drip over the ornaments which is good. Once its secure you can apply more glue, the hanging pieces is just for decoration not to use as a hanger the wreath will hang using the wreath form.

Start wiring the lights all around the wreath I placed the battery pack right behind the hanging piece and string, start wiring one side and with the second light strand string the other side. The ends of the light strands can simply be twisted along the wreath forms.

The lights are wrapped around the wreath form you will have to string from under the ornaments pull the light string out and wrap around and repeat.

Optional Step—— For the finishing touches I added a piece of jewelry in the center of the bowl.

If you want to go the extra mile use the patterns the bowl has and bedazzled it more. I added small rhinestones for more pizzazz.

Now you should be proud of your self as this piece was created under 15$ the inspirational piece is worth $119

Now light it up! Voila! A one of a kind piece, the silver ornament was created on a live show.

This colorful ornament was the original piece I created first, it can be done in many different color patterns.
