Next time you’re in Walmart and if you see the red Christmas Cardinal you may need to grab a few. I can’t believe that you can create a Dove using the Christmas Cardinal Ornament, the project turned out gorgeous.

Materials:
1.) Christmas Cardinal Ornament (Walmart)
2.)8×11 Canvas
3.)Hot Glue Gun/Wood Burning Tool
4.) Spray paint- Aqua, Brilliant Blue, Blossom White (not in picture I ran out of paint)
5.)Fairy Lights-Optional
6.)Artificial greenery

Start by warming up the wooden burning tool as you will need it to cut the ornament in half.
*** Be careful the wood burning tool gets very hot.

You may have to go over twice to make sure the cut is right and simply pull apart.
Once this is cut in half simply cut the tip over the head to make a round shape.

You will spray paint both sides of the cardinal with the Blossom White.
Remember that you don’t have to use spray paint you can use chalk paint.

Add a small spray of gold to the beak and over the wing.
If you don’t spray paint you can use acrylic paint or you can use run n buff antique gold color.

For my background I sprayed both colors and created a simple peaceful background, I used the white to spritz some “stars” or “snow”
If you do not use spray paint simply use acrylic paint.

Now its time to put the piece together.

Start by creating your design with the greenery, you can use any type of greenery.

Now its time to glue the Dove in the center.
On my material I have lights included but I ended up not using them.

The last thing to add is the small sprig on the beak.

Using a white paint pen or white paint and add some details to the Dove’s eye.

Finish it off by framing your art piece on a frame. I Also added some berries and the phrase “ Peace on Earth”
