I’m all about recycling and this DIY is perfect! Save your paper rolls and create this beautiful modular star! Ornament, tree topper, farmhouse star etc etc.
This project can also be created using cardstock paper.

The Americana stars are some the same way the only difference is the color, these stars are spray painted red white and blue.

Materials:
1.) 5 Paper Rolls
2.) Scissors
3.) Hot Glue
4.) Gold Elastic String
5.) Small Brooch (Totally Dazzled or what ever you have available)
6.) Metallic Gold Spray Paint

Start by cutting your paper roll in half.
*** If you don’t have paper rolls the exact square size I used to create them out of cardboard stock is 4×4 in.

Once cut flatten the paper roll.

You will grab on corner of your paper roll and fold it in half diagonally to create a triangle, as you can see you will have some leftover simply cut it off.
*** This process will be done to each paper roll —-unless you are doing this with cardstock.

Unfold it and you will half a crease in the center, the center crease will guide you through the next steps.

Grab one of the corners and bring it over the center line and align it to create a point.

Repeat the same step to the opposite side, again using the center line as a guide.

Once you have both sides folded in you will have a smaller triangle on the bottom side as you can see below, simply fold it upward to create a steep triangle.

Rotate your piece so that the longer point is facing you, see below.
Grab one of the top corner points and bring over to the center line, and repeat the same step to the other side.

Once you have both points folded in press real tight to prevent any unfolding.

Now unfold and add a small dab of glue to the unfolded side and simply fold back into place to secure, repeat the same step to the other side.

Once both sides are glued then you have created a small pocket, simply insert a pen or pencil and pull apart.
See below to see how the small pocket will show.

Once you have all of you pieces ready then simply start gluing them side to side.

Add a fair amount of glue to make sure they are closely tight.

Close the Star you’re creating by repeating the same gluing process, and hold tight.

Now it’s time to add the piece of jewelry of your choice.

Using the gold elastic band measure to the desire length you want your ornament to hang.
*** This can also be a wall decor if you choose to not add a hanging piece.

Add a bit of hot glue to the backside of one of the star points and glue.

These are very gorgeous and to think they are made out of paper, you can use any type of paint color or give it your own spin.
