A Christmas topper doesn’t just have to be a topper, checkout what I created using a Dollar Tree Christmas topper.

Materials:
1.) Dollar Tree Christmas topper
2.) Cardboard
3.) Hot glue
4.)Ruler, Exacto Knife, Ruler
5.) Bubble Wrap
6.) Party Beads
7.)Spray Paint-Metallic Gold
8.) Fairy lights ( they are not in the picture)

Let’s get started by taking apart the Christmas topper in half.

Using your ruler measure how wide(deep) you want the lantern to be and start marking your cardboard.

Get the measurements you want trace and cut your pattern, you will need to have 10 pieces.

Make sure all your pieces are the same size as they will all be glued on the star to form the lantern.

Pick a point and start gluing all your pieces.

Once you have all the pieces glued pick a point where you will be attaching the party beads . Mark and poke a hole.

You can use any party beads that you have, these were some leftover from St Patricks celebration.

Apply some glue and attach.

Since this will be a lantern/luminaria use a skewer and poke some holes to form any design you want.

It’s time to spray! I will be using Metallic Gold .
***Remember that you don’t have to use spray paint, you can use chalk paint.

Once your pieces are dried use the star shape and trace over the bubble wrap and cut.
Glue the star cut out on the inside of the star shape, the other half of the tree topper will also have bubble wrap when its time to close it.

Now its time to insert the fairy lights leaving the light switch outside as it will be glued outside the star.

Now simply just glue the other half of the star topper to the star shape and glue.

The last thing you have to do is glue the light switch under the star lantern as you see on the picture below.

Now incorporate it to your home decor and as you can see it adds a touch of elegance, you can also hang this lantern.

This is a beautiful piece and it can be done in many colors to fit your decor at home.
